When we made over Annie’s bedroom last year I told her we would get some artwork for the very bare wall above her bed. I had visions in my head of a black and white photo with just a hint of red. Annie had visions of painting something herself, which left me in a quivering ball of terror because when Annie paints, it gets messy.
But Annie really wanted her own artwork, to go up on the wall along with the collages she had made.
Then I had a brainwave, I suggested to husband he did some painting with the girls, as a father / daughter bonding experience. Total win.
Then they had to use a pencil to draw the outline on their canvas:
Husband got in on the fun doing his own painting, which also turned out to be a great way to show the girls each step of the process:
Needless to say I lost my dining table for several weeks. The canvases would take turns sitting on the playroom window sills to dry:
It took about a month from start to finish, here are the finished artworks hanging up in each bedroom.
