Always exciting words for the parent of a child with social communication delays to hear. Although I was wondering how Heidi had made a new friend in the couple of hours we had been home after doing our big monthly grocery shop. Then I thought perhaps it was one of those time delay things, where something could happen last week or even last month and Heidi will reference it as something that happened today or even right now.
While I am pondering all this Heidi is excitendly calling to me “Mama, I made a new friend!”
She comes running into the kitchen to tell me about her new friend, “His name and Glowy and he lives in da corridor an she makes sunshine when she see’ds me.” (yep pronouns still an issue too).
Which was about when I realised her new friend was a motion sensory activated light we had purchased at ALDI that afternoon and my husband had just hung up in the corridor.
Well hopefully Heidi’s new friend Glowy will make going to the toilet at nighttime a less tear filled exercise for my girl.

Glowy is a very lovely friend. Heidi has been asking if we could get some brothers and sisters for Glowy who would live in other dark areas of the house. I think it would be a very good idea.
Aww that’s sweet. Monster has made friends with a small stuffed toy dog this morning. I peered into his room as I walked past this morning and he says “Look mummy, doggy likes me” and has been hugging it.
And what a great light!? I might have to get some too, Monster always gets up at midnight to get a drink and I don’t like leaving the downlights on. They heat up too much.

Aw Monster and his doggy sound so cute
It is fantastic, very bright and stays on for about 60 seconds which is long enough to find the light switch and make sure there are no spiders on the walls (important that last one).
“She makes sunshine when she sees me” – that sounds like a wonderful friendship to me.
